What We Do

We give families a safe base next to the hospital. This allows parents to remain close to their child without having to travel long distances. We have 31 bedrooms, a large kitchen and laundry facilities. Families can eat, sleep and focus on the most important thing – the health of their child.

House History

Mum and her baby laughing

We have been welcoming families since 1996, during this time over 12,000 families have stayed with us. Originally based beside the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill, we moved to Govan in 2015 following the construction of the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. Looking after families from Edinburgh to Ecuador, Blantyre to Bournemouth and Portree to Portugal - the House has welcomed families with seriously ill children in hospital, from places near and far, throughout the years.

Our Reach is Wide

We provide free, high quality accommodation for families with seriously ill children receiving treatment in the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and other hospitals in the West of Scotland.

The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow is a centre of excellence, and for many children is the only place where they can be cared for. Families can travel hundreds of miles from across Scotland and further afield to attend the hospital, which can mean a stay at the House for weeks or even months.

As you can imagine, arranging accommodation for that time can be stressful and expensive. So, we take away the worry of where to stay and how to pay, allowing families to focus on the thing that really matters – the health of their child.

During 2022 the Charity helped 417 families. The hearts on the map show just some of the locations these families came from, during that time.
